Lucy Adams
Director, BBC People
British Broadcasting Corp.

The British Broadcasting Corp. in London named Lucy Adams to be its new HR chief beginning in June. The new director, BBC People, she will also join the corporation's executive board.

Adams is currently the director of human resources for the London-based law firm of Eversheds LLP. Before that, she spent nine years at Serco Group and has previously worked in recruitment, education and training and development.

Adams holds degrees in both history and English from the University of Brighton.

Beth A. Friel
Senior Vice President of Human Resources
Harleysville Insurance Inc.

Harleysville Insurance Inc., based in Harleysville, Pa., appointed Beth A. Friel senior vice president of human resources. She reports to Michael L. Browne, company CEO and president.

Friel joined Harleysville Insurance in 2006 as assistant vice president and assistant general counsel.

Prior to that, she was an associate with the Philadelphia law firm of Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhoads LLP. She began her law career in 2000 as a clerk for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Friel earned a law degree from Temple University's James E. Beasley School of Law and a bachelor's degree from Franklin and Marshall College.

Lori Hannay
Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer
Interactive Data Corp.

Interactive Data Corp., a provider of financial market data based in Bedford, Mass., named Lori Hannay vice president and chief human resources officer.

Hannay joins the company from TRC Cos., where she held the position of vice president of human resources. She also served for more than 10 years in vice president positions with international technology firms Enterasys Networks Inc. and GenRad Inc.

She also served as vice president and corporate secretary at First Inter-Bancorp, which was acquired by First Fidelity.

Hannay completed the advanced management program for international executives at Harvard Business School. She also completed part-time study at several colleges and universities, including Lake Superior State College, SUNY New Paltz, Simmons College and Fairfield University's National School of Banking.

Paul Jarrell
Executive Vice President of Corporate Human Resources
Royal DSM N.V.

Royal DSM N.V., a life sciences and materials science company based in Heerlen, Netherlands, named Paul Jarrell to succeed Ben van Dijk as executive vice president of corporate human resources on May 1.

Prior to joining the company, Jarrell was vice president of human resources for commercial businesses at ITT in New York. He joined that company in 2006. He previously held the position of vice president of HR for Alcoa's Europe division.

Jarrell holds a bachelor's degree from Cornell University.

Krzysztof Lozinski
Human Resources Director
Unipetrol

Czech oil refiner and fuel retailer Unipetrol appointed Krzysztof Lozinski as its new human resources director.

Previously Lozinski worked for six years as the HR director at Prokom Software, a Polish IT company, and also was HR director at Paged, a Polish paper and furniture company. He began his HR career in 1999 at Hortex Holding.

A participant in the Polish contest for the HR Director of the Year in 2000 and 2001, Lozinski made it through to the finals both years.

He graduated with a degree in political science from the University of Wroclaw in Poland. His hobbies include kickboxing.

Jennifer C. Reading
Director of Human Resources
Rodman & Rodman

Jennifer C. Reading was promoted to director of human resources at Rodman & Rodman P.C. Certified Public Accountants and Business Strategists in Newton, Mass.

Prior to her promotion, Reading was director of administrative services. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of New Hampshire.

Reading is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, the New England Human Resource Association, the Massachusetts Society of CPAs and the Association for Accounting Administration.

Sylvia R. Wagner
Executive Vice President of Human Resources and Development
Assurant Inc.

Specialty insurance provider Assurant Inc., based in New York, appointed Sylvia R. Wagner as executive vice president of human resources and development.

She joins the company's management committee and succeeds the retiring Lesley G. Silvester.

Wagner's most recent post was as senior vice president of human resources and development at Assurant Employee Benefits in Kansas City, a post she held since 1995.

Prior to that, Wagner worked at Fortis (now Assurant) when the company acquired Western Life in 1984; during that time period, she served as vice president of human resources and then as vice president of corporate services.

Wagner graduated magna cum laude from the University of South Dakota with a bachelor's degree in English. She also earned a master's degree in English literature from Oklahoma State University. She serves on the board of trustees for the University of South Dakota Foundation.

Kim Warmbier
Senior Vice President of Human Resources
Radio Shack

Fort Worth, Texas-based consumer electronics retailer Radio Shack appointed Kim Warmbier senior vice president of human resources. She reports to Julian Day, company chairman and chief executive officer.

Prior to joining Radio Shack, Warmbier was chief personnel officer for PepsiCo Sales and before that, she served as group vice president of human resources for Frito Lay North America Sales. She also held roles of increasing importance at Frito Lay during more than 20 years of work there.

Warmbier holds a master's degree in labor industrial relations from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a bachelor's degree in business from Illinois State University.

She is a board member for the Center for Human Resource Management with University of Illinois and a member of the Center for Effective Organizations with the University of Southern California.

Robert Wiley
Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer
Checkpoint Systems Inc.

Checkpoint Systems Inc., a Thorofare, N.J.-based loss-prevention and merchandising solutions provider, appointed Robert Wiley as senior vice president and chief human resources officer.

Prior to joining the company, Wiley founded Traversa Consulting. He has also held various HR management positions with Hay Group, The Stride Rite Corp., Towers Perrin, Accenture and Heidrick & Struggles.

Wiley holds an M.B.A. from Boston University, both master's and bachelor's degrees in psychology from the University of Missouri and a doctorate in psychology from Texas Tech University.
